Some more photos from the Lake Cabin

Ben was nice enough to send some of the fun photos he had from his camera.  So these all go with the previous post from Week 2 in the US at Gigi's lake cabin.  So fun!

Ah, what a difference a good camera makes!  The lighting in this photo is way better than the ones I took.  I love this one!
Issac-8 (almost 9), Dashiel-7, Marien-6 (almost 7), Oren-5 (almost 6), Ruby-3, Archie-2, Sylvie-1

A goofy shot....except Ruby, Archie, and Sylvie didn't quite get the goofy part! :)

Sylvie, Grandpa, and Dash.  Sylvie was jumping up and down so much we couldn't get a clear photo.  She was so excited to be in her life jacket....at least at this point.  She never wanted it on again.

Checking out the pool on the beach with Grandma.

Grandpa poured a new concrete landing from the parking area at the stairs leading down to the cabin.  The three boys, Dash, Oren, and Archie, got to put their handprints in and intials.  It was really special and will be there for years to come.

Our family has some wonderful friends at the lake.  The Ross Family let us borrow many wonderful toys, including the jetskis.  Here is Campbell taking Archie for a spin.  Of course, he LOVED it.

The always gorgous Traci braiding Marien's hair.

Winking

Ah, the many times I have spent watching cartoons with my cousins and brothers on this couch.  So we tried to get some photos of the kids....the only one into taking the photos was Sylvie!

Another long day for Archie.  He is super tired here as apparent by the PJs, binky, and blanket.

US Trip - Week 3, Seattle

Awe, home again.  For our third week in the states we drove across Washington state to Seattle.  The weather was fantastic and it was so great to be back in what we consider our home city.  It was a very busy week seeing family and friends.  We tried to fit as much as we could in.....and we left exhausted!  I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked as we were too busy having fun.  We tried to visit a new playground everyday because Seattle has fantasic playground.  And we visited several of the summer kiddie splash paddling pools.  Both kids had so much fun.

View to Puget Sound (in the fog) from John and Katie's house.  They were kind enough to let us stay in their home for the week.  It was a great set-up for the kids and we could give them space while we were there.

Katie and Archie enjoying the view.  Archie loves to ask where John, Katie, and Bob the dog are.  He loves Bob the dog and by the end of the week was trying to pet him and play with him.  It was a big step from being super excited but still too terrified to pet him at the beginning of the week.

Cuddles with Katie

We went to the Lochs where there is a man-made fish ladder for the salmon to swim up to the mountain rivers.  It also has a great viewing room that we were able to see some huge salmon.  Archie loved to see the fish as well as the bridges for all the boats.

We were super happy to our friends Robyn, Chris, and their son Issac.  Archie and Issac shared their nanny, Anna, during our final months in Seattle.  They had some fun times together and it was so great to see them play again.  We made it to a great playground and then did a swim in the paddling pool.  Best Buddies!

We wondered back to our old neighborhood and our favorite cafe.  We chatted with the Owner whom we loved to see every weekend when we lived there.  The kids enjoyed having straws and coffee cups (with milk) to play with.  It brought back nice memories to be there as it was the first place we took Archie after he was born at 5 days old.  While in the neighborhood, we had dinner with our next door neighbor Joyce and good friend Steven.  No pictures, but it was a nice evening to get together and have some great food.

On our final weekend there, many of our friends gathered for a BBQ in the park with a great playground and paddling pool.  It was a great way to see them and all the kids running around playing.  As usual, we spent most of the time chasing kids but most everyone else was doing the same.  So, I didn't get many photos just this one of Archie playing.  I need to work on taking more!!!  There is a picture of the kids on the water together that I will work on getting and posting soon.

On our last night, we had a casual BBQ dinner at Eric and Sarah's house.  They have two daughters, Hazel and Quinn.  It was a great day and really fun seeing all the kids playing together.  The food and friends were great and we loved being there.

Another favorite in our old neighborhood is University Village and the water feature with spitting frogs and turtles.  They go off at different times and are super fun for kids to play with.  This was the first time play in the water when we were there and we went a second time before leaving.  On the second visit, we striped him down to his diaper and he ran around in the water.  Sylvie looked on like she wanted to join.  Next time!

Sylvie and Uncle Jimmy!  He hosted a dinner for us where we met up with Auntie Mary and Cousin Kari.  It was a really  nice evening and great way to catch up.  It was really  nice being there.  When we were living there, we had dinner with Jimmie about every month.  We miss spending time with him and his home brew beers!

Auntie Mary and Cousin Kari

Two of my favorite ladies!  I was super lucky that I had a girls' night out with Megan, Sarah, and Katie.  We went for fabulous Thai food and then drinks in Sarah's garden.  It was a fantastic evening with lots of good laughs.  I wish I had taken more photos but I am happy I have this one of these two pretty ladies.

I don't have photos but on our last morning, we went to Alki beach and ran into Megan, Tony, and their daughters Malia and Emma.  It was so great to see them and have some time to chat.  It was a nice cool gray morning and the water was really calm.  Next time we are there, we look forward to spending more time with them and snapping  a couple photos.

US Trip - Week 2 Lake Cabin

For our second week in the US, we went to my Grandparents' lake cabin in Northern Idaho.  Great Grandma Marien (Gigi) lives there in the summer and hosts many family and friends that come and visit.  We drove up with my parents.  My older brother Ben and his two boys joined us from California for the week giving his wife a nice girl's weekend in Florida.  My younger brother Josh was able to join us for a couple days before he went off for some more Army training.  My cousin Traci and her husband and three children joined us for most of the week as well.  So the cabin was at maximum capacity with all of us there.  It was a lot of fun and the best part was seeing the cousins enjoying playing with one another.  Campbell joined us for the trip mid-week.
View down the lake from the dock.  What a perfect day for a boatride!

Ben took the kids and me for a boatride.  There was no one on the lake and it was perfectly still.

Looking back at the cabin (behind the boat cover....not the big one on the right!)

Sylvie was squashed into her life-vest.  It was the only time she wore it which was in the boat.  They both loved the boat ride.  Archie kept looking up at me smiling showing me how happy he was and pointing around.

And while we were there, Sylvie had her first birthday.  Campbell arrived the day of her birthday so it was a great day.  I successfully made a cake with icing and all.  Considering my varied success with cakes in the past, I was very proud of my creation.  Traci brought a large cupcake tin cake mold that I used to create a special cake.  Cousins Marien and Oren helped make, color, and decorate the frosting and sprinkles.  They also help me taste all the colors to make sure they were good.  They tested so much, neither were too hungry at dinner....all my fault!

Birthday girl ready to dig in

She loved the frosting!

Swimming on the beach.  Archie and Ruby do not look happy but they loved spending time with one another.  They were just a little camera shy at times.  They are in their beach chairs enjoying cookies.

Fun meal with no shirts

Dinner with the cousins

Enjoying some Daddy time at Starbucks after we picked him up at the airport.

Traci brought a train set up and all the kids loved playing with it.  Archie would wake up and ask to go outside to play trains.  Santa might have to bring him a trainset for Christmas.  It provided HOURS of entertainment.

Young Marien and Gigi (Great Grandma Marien)

Enjoying watchin a movie together.  Archie had to sit in the same chair with Marien, his best buddy.

The three musketeers, two of whom are being camera shy.

Another sucessful attempt at getting a photo of the two of them together!

Going for walk/run down the bay.

Sylvie loves her Uncle Ben and was totally at ease with him all week.

Time on the dock.

Swim time.  I don't have any photos but Archie did really well swimming in the lake.  He had a life-jacket and could swim on his own.  In fact, he didn't want me holding on to him at all.  It was more of a stand-up swim style than a laying in the water but it worked well.  He kept saying, "Arching swimming! I do it!....Come on Mom!....This way!....That way!"  It was super cute and lots of fun.

Dock time with Grandpa

Growing up, when we went to the cabin and met up with many of our cousins, we had photos on the beach.  We would line up by age and take photos and then we would line up by height and take photos.  It is a great way to see us all together and see how we have changed.  So this year we lined the kids up and took some cute photos.  Archie was in a bit of a mood and refused to take his Binky out.

Happy Birthday Sylvie!

Birthday girl!

I got him to smile but still couldn't get the binky out!

Another perfect weather day

Auntie Susie and Grandma

Auntie Traci.  Archie wanted to cuddle with her on the couch.  He was tired from another long day of trains and swimming.
